| My
reason for weight loss? Frankly, I have a lot of
them. I'm tired of trying to find decent looking clothes
to fit. It's hard to find a good pair of waders or some
new camo clothing that is made over seas by people who have
no concept of what a 50 regular is!
After
going on a family vacation a few years ago and trying to
get on a roller coaster with my daughter, only to have a
difficult time getting the harness over my head, I decided
it was time to change. With a tough work schedule and my
love for hunting and fishing, it didn't happen. Now, it's
on! I have decided it's time to make a change for my family
and myself.

A
look back at 2011 -
When
I decided to make a change for the better in December of
2010, it was cold turkey. The late night fast food runs
were done. The fast food in general was done. I was going
to eat less, better and make a positive change.
The
diet change was a huge help. I had lost a few pounds and
was on my way. Cutting out high carb foods and drinking
a gallon of water a day was starting to get me in
the right direction.
When
friend and outdoors writer Tracy Breen introduced me to
Coach Paulsen and Jerod Fink of Wilderness Athlete, it was
the start of something better than I had ever imagined.
Having
Coach Paulsen on the show was an inspiration. Here was someone
who had to make a change of his own after an injury ended
his NFL career. He made a change. A change that would eventually
lead him to help develop products for the athlete in all
outdoorsmen. He also believed in me, a person that he had
never met personally but knew that I was on my way to make
a change.
I
was introduced to a program that incorporated the WA products
with my changed diet and exercise and the results have been
amazing. It's has been a combination of diet, exercise,
and Wilderness Athlete products on a daily basis. Without
commitment to all three, the balance will not work!
With
all of the sweat, hunger and pain, I am happy to say that
I am in the best shape of my life at 45 years old. IT CAN
BE DONE!!!
The
support from family and friends has been overwhelming. Knowing
that I will be able to do things with my wife and daughter
that were difficult before make me so happy. Flying on an
airplane will no longer be a chore. Being able to go on
amusement park rides will make vacations so much more enjoyable.
Even sitting in a booth at a restaurant is possible now
without having to ask for a table because of my size. The
smallest of life's everyday chores have been made so much
easier because of the weight loss.
It's
hard to see old pictures of how I looked before. To be honest,
it brings me to tears sometimes because of what I had let
myself become. It's not evil or wrong to be overweight.
So many of us have different reasons for it. Medical, emotional,
or just a lack of education on health benefits and risks
of certain foods. There a multitude of problems, and a solution
for every one. Sometimes it just takes being tired of being
tired.
My
fight isn't over, I struggle everyday to make the right
decisions with food and drink. Some days I win, some days
I lose, but I never give up. I will never go back to being
where I was. Failure is not an option.
It's not easy! There has never been a time where I do not
feel hungry or overwhelmed. Results have been the motivation,
my family, the reward. I am in a much better place to only
physically, but emotionally. I feel being happier with myself,
has been a great help with my relationships with my friends
and family.
I
hope to continue on the right path into 2012 and make more
strides to better health. Thank you all who have taken the
time to listen and even join me on this wonderful journey.
Happy New Year!
