FINAL THOUGHTS
As the first day of September draws near and the trees are starting their transformation to Michigan’s coat of many colors, excitement fills my body as the thought of early goose season and the promise of salmon returning to the streams and rivers to deposit the future of our fishing heritage.
It also brings with it the concern I feel every day, that our busy lives have taken away the time to teach our future generations that hunting and fishing is not only a sport, but an important lesson in conservation and preservation.
With new opportunities of early goose seasons, fall turkey and the youth deer season, we are given more and more chances to teach our youth the importance of the outdoors and the benefits of all Michigan has to offer. I can only hope that you make the time to educate a young person or invite a friend to join you on the trails, woods and waters of Michigan to help keep safe the future of our outdoor heritage.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my love of the outdoors with you each and every week. I look forward to meeting you on the trail ahead!

AUGUST AND EVERYTHING AFTER
I can’t believe we are half way through August and September 1st will bring the official kickoff of hunting season in Michigan with the early goose season.
The good thing is that I have joined a 3-D archery league and my skills for the sweet sport of archery are getting fine tuned. Unfortunately, you will never get “buck fever” from a Rhinehart target at 20 yards. As realistic as a McKenzie or Glendel may be, it will never give you that rush that you get when that big buck comes running under your treestand at 15 yards. But that is exactly why we do what we do. The thrill of knowing that you could get spotted and the deer of a lifetime could be gone. Even the chance to take a wise old doe is a challenge that keeps me heading back to the woods time and time again.
THIS WEEKS SHOW
Every show is a challenge. Whether it’s getting the right guest or finding the right topic. The challenge to make everyone happy is also one of the most difficult things to do as well. Knowing how impossible of a task it is, I still try and keep our listeners informed.
This week we will speak with Scott Grange from Browning Firearmsof Morgan, Utah about the new Maxus shotgun. According to Browning, this is the “most reliable, softest shooting auto-loader ever.”
Scott will talk about the properties of this new shotgun and why it is going to make such an impact in the world of firearms. We will also discuss some of the history behind John M. Browning’s Auto 5. For over 100 years the Auto 5 shotgun was the standard for all other auto-loaders to follow.
Captain Fred Post from Michigan Cruise and Snooze Charters will recap our fishing trip on the Tittabawassee river with our guide Ken Post, TEAM AMO member Bill Elliott and myself. This was my first ever trip on a fan boat and I highly recommend that you book your trip soon. Captain Post is offering a special deal for members of the AM Outdoors listening audience. Click on the link and find out how to save $50.00 on your guided trip!
MICHIGAN OPEN CARRY/ SECOND AMENDMENT MARCH
President of Michigan Open Carry, Brian Jeffs, will also join us in the second hour of the show. Michigan Open Carry, an organization that educates our citizens on the right to open carry firearms in here in the state.
Brian is also very involved with the Second Amendment March that will take place both in Michigan and Washington D.C. next year.
FINAL THOUGHTS
As America has progressed we have seen many changes. Changes that our forefathers fought and died to make a reality. Freedom from opression and tyranny in government. Freedom to chose religion or not worship at all. The right that every man, woman and child be equal, regardless of race, creed or color. And the right to keep and bear arms. To protect ourselves from intruders both foreign and domestic.
All of the things that are guaranteed within the Constitution of the United States seem to now be subject to interpretation by those we have elected to represent us in government. Our second amendment rights are being chipped away a little at a time. What ever ground we lose is ground that we will not be able to recover.
