THANKS FOR 2008/CHANGES FOR 2009

Posted in Uncategorized by Duran on the December 29th, 2008

THANK YOU!

I can’t thank each and everyone of you that have listened to the show for any amount of time enough. 2008 has been a tremendous year for the show.

We have grown the show from a single station in Lansing to eight stations all over the great state of Michigan. The greatest amount of thanks goes to Tim Nester, Operations Manager of the Michigan Talk Network.  Tim has championed the cause of AM Outdoors and brought it to all of our current affiliates in Saginaw, Flint, Mount Pleasant, Muskegon and Ludington. Most recently we have added new affiliates in Traverse City and Petoskey.

Other personal “thanks” goes to friends Bob and Liz Miles. They have been with AM Outdoors since show #1. Their support as friends and sponsors of the show has driven me to bring the best product we can. Tom and Beth Nelson, Steve Gruber, and Jeff Scott are not only some of the best friends a guy could have, but have been mentors in the outdoors to me.

Tom has instilled his love of archery, Steve his journalism skills (I’ve stolen).  And Jeff is one of those guys who has been a friend for so long I forget how much money he owes me…or I owe him. All the best people to be sure.

THE GUESTS

It would be unfair of me to single out one particular guest as “the best.” All of our guests have been great in one way or another. From experts in their field to nationally known outdoorsmen and women. World renown or unknown, our guests have given their time and efforts to educate our listeners.

SYNERGY SOUP

Without Frank Cugini and the staff at Synergy Soup Interactive, we’re not on the web. I know you were probably better off just hearing the show most days without knowing what we look like.  Then again, when you want to tell me you can’t stand my “biased opinion on the second amendment,” you wouldn’t know who to cuss out! Thanks for a great web design and helping out your least paying. pickiest client. Check them out at www.synergysoup.com

NOW, THE CHANGES

For the past two and a half years, AM Outdoors has been airing on The Game 730 AM WVFN Saturday mornings from 8-10 AM. Well, it seems that a change of sorts is on the fast approaching horizon.

Another show of similar distinction is scheduled to be in our place. To be honest, it’s kind of tough to know the spot that we have cultivated and grown from the beginning will be filled by a different show.

We hope that you will continue to join us wherever we end up. I have, however, been assured that we will not lose any affiliates just the familiar time slot.

For more information and updates, please email me and I will be happy to give you more information. duran.martinez@citcomm.com.

I wish I could go into more detail at this time, but until all events and things are in place, I have to keep it under wraps.

ON THE TRAIL AHEAD

2009 is already shaping up to be a good year. Bill Hawk and myself will be traveling to Indianapolis for the Archery Trade Association show next week.

We will come back with all of what’s new in the archery world and maybe have some new stories from the road.

January will also have the 31st annual SHOT show in Orlando. I’ll have a full report on what’s new shooting sports and hunting gear.

Local Michigan shows will kick off with the Detroit Fishing Show when we return from INDY.

Have a great New Year from all of us here at AM Outdoors! Take the kids hunting and fishing. They are the future of our outdoors sports!

ANTI MICHIGAN?

Posted in Uncategorized by Duran on the December 14th, 2008

During last weeks show, my producer, Brock Palmbos (Palmbush) received a call from an angry listener.

The gentleman wanted to know why I would promote someone from Minnesota on a show that is based out of Michigan while our economy suffers and businesses are closing left and right?

What I didn’t get to say to the angry listener is as follows:

I am very happy to promote the fine products of this great state. I feel very strongly about Michigan and am happy to promote it any chance I get. As a matter of fact I am happy to be sponsored by or use these Michigan based companies:

Family Tradition Tree Stands - Charlotte, Michigan (Treestands)

Bohning Archery - Lake City, Michigan (Blazer Vanes)

Scent Lok - Muskegon, Michigan (Scent Eliminating Apparel)

Eppinger Mfg. - Dearborn, Michigan (Daredevl Lures)

Border Crossing Scents - West Branch, Michigan

K&E Stopper Lures - Hastings, Michigan

There are many others that we are proud to say come from Michigan as well. Kwikee Quivers, CP Oneida Bows, and many many more.

We bring guests from around the country to educate and share their knowledge to inform every one that listens. I am happy to take criticism as well as praise. Because of both the show grows and we ALL learn.

I appreciate the concern, but never let it be said that I do not put Michigan first.

This is my home.
